According to foreign media reports, Papua New Guinea's government is working on a $5.7 billion road development plan.

The plan covers 15 highway maintenance and improvement projects, with major projects including Madang-bayer-compian road, Madang-lay-Finschhafen road, Vanimo-Wewak-Madang road and Lamu-Gembolg-Kundiawa-Karamui-Purari road.

The construction of the four roads will improve transport links between Madang, Morobi Heights and East Sepik.
